OK, all you early downdraft dual carby guys -
I'm FINALLY working on getting the new engine running in my Sunbeam
camper. (the Tigers East/Alpines East Mobile Hospitality Suite) I've
half-Alpinized the engine, and am currently using a 2bbl intake with a Weber
32/36. This setup, however, gets VERY close to the side of the engine bay.
(which is between the front seats) I may have to resort to a different
intake system to gain some clearance, and I don't think the Strombergs will
fit height-wise.
The question I pose - how far does the intake manifold extend,
measured from the valve cover? (I figure this to be a pretty fair constant
value) Does the intake manifold itself extend further out from the head than
the carbs attached to it? How far does it extend to the rear of the head?
Does it use the water fitting at the rear of the head, like the 2bbl intake
does? And, most importantly, does anyone have a spare one kicking around,
either for sale, or that I might borrow to do some calculations?
Sorry to ask so much, but it's starting to get COLD here in NJ, and I
gotta get this baby running!
