Looking for Webber carbs

Hello Everyone In The Sunbeam Universe:

I am on the verge of deciding to go ahead and rebuild my Series V engine
which apparently has a cracked ring in #3 cyl.

My other problem is my Stromberg carbs which I have messed around with
since I bought this Alpine a couple of months ago (and have been messing
around with on other Alpines for the last 30 years or so). To get
"maximum" performance, such as it is, out of the car, I must keep the
choke out between 1/4 and 1/3 of the way, then push it in to idle at a
reasonable RPM. Nothing I do seems to solve this problem. Also, the
throttle shaft doesn't work the front and back carbs equally, plus I
can't get the carbs synch'd at high RPMS, plus the back carb sticks open
a bit at idle, plus......well, you get the idea. Since this is now my
everyday car (on the days it's working), I need to solve this problem.

Anyway, I am at the point of dumping the Strombergs and I'm hoping to
find a used set of dual Webber 40DCOE's and a manifold to fit to my 1725
engine. Does anyone out there have this setup for sale?

If so, let me know at: rootes(at)ix.netcom.com

Thanks for the help!
Steve Sage
