There was a thread on valve covers about a year ago, so you could check
the archives. Also, if you want to do something similar to the sunbeam
and the s cover, you would need a carbon steel burr along with a Dremel
type tool (die grinder). Most of the Dremel tools are types of
grindstones, and aluminum does not grind easily (it clogs up the stone
very quickly due to low melting point, and requires frequent surfacing).
Sandblasting would work but would be more expensive.
