Steve, I also added backup lights to my Series V and as you said the
wires were already there, even the backup switch on the transmission was
there although it did need some adjustment but it's been working fine
for about 10 years. The switch should be located near the top left of
the transmission cover. It is screwed into the side and is adjusted by
using spacer washers.
