Manifold bolt

Now that I have worked on the aesthetics for two years, it's time for me
to start on the drivetrain.

First question: I noticed the intake and exhaust manifolds are attached
to the block of my 1725cc using the same bolt at the most forward point.
However, I also noticed that each manifold is a different thickness,
differing by almost 3/8 inches. This bolt looks as though it needs some
sort of odd shaped spacer. Is this true?
