If you are comfortable working on the insides of engines then you will have no trouble with the Alpine box. No critical shims/clearences as in more modern counterparts. You will need a strong vise to hold the shaft when removing and tightening the big nut on ther mainshaft. Also consult the manual re removing and installing the layshaft - easy when you know how. The special tool needed to hold the needle rollers can be made from wood dowel and nails.
