1) no way to adjust clutch. How old is the plate? Is the slave cylinder
mounted on the correct side of the bell housing?
2) water loss - coming from heater core? Can be hard to see.
Head gasket on the way out? - steam from exhaust when starting or milky
oil.
For cooling try to find an aftermarket fan with lots of blades.
