Alan,
Purchase the Series II competition book.
It is available from Sunbeam Specialties, and perhaps from
Classic Sunbeam.
In it, it describes parts and proceedures that were sold by the
factory for showroom racing back in the 60s.
As far as handling goes, the book suggests that you change
the springs (higher rate and lower height), add in the 7/8 inch bar,
and swap out the rear lever action shocks for factory modified units.
None of the parts refferenced are available, but for springs, tiger
springs can be cut, and the 7/8 inch bar has been reproduced
by Sunbeam Specialties. Spax adjustable shocks are pricey,
but availble for the front.
Top it off with 6 or 7 inch Minilite wheels and a good set of tires,
and you will have a pretty good handling car.
About the time you reallly get it handling good, you will discover
that the oil presure dwindles to near zero in the turns, but thats
another discussion.
I have all of the above on my series II, and it all work pretty good,
except Ramon says it is too hard to turn the wheel at a stop.
Hope this helps.
