DGB,

I would suggest you check your service manual as on many of these cars, the recommended gearbox fluid is NON-DETERGENT SAE 30 Motor Oil, especially with an O/D fitted. My Volvo 240 four speed with Laycock DeNormanville O/D uses automatic transmission fluid. My Sunbeam Talbots all use SAE30 - not the 80/90 wt. hypoid oil.
