Overheating problem solved - finally

I have been tinkering with the thermostat, radiator, timing, fuel mixture, etc. in an attempt to get the Alpine to run coller than 195-200 average with scary spikes to 210-220 in traffic. I pulled the head to find that the water passages were corroded a lot (DPO didn't use good antifreeze). After having the head cleaned up, I took it for the maiden voyage and it never go above 170!! Ambient air was about 85-90. Thank you to all who helped me with the head pulling, carb rebuilding, valve setting questions.

Now if I can just find something else to take apart so I won't be able to drive it for the rest of the summer..........
