I dont know about wisdom, but if you have a 3 core, and cant keep it cool with the mechanical, I'd say you'd be wasting your time with the electric too.

You probably have another problem preventing normal operating temps.

Recent relevant topics were....

1) Sand in the block. 2) Pluged "corroded" cyl head passages. 3) Bad ignition timing. 4) Broken/rotted/corroded pump impellor. 5) Bad A/F ratio. 6) Bad Gauge/sender "No real problem"

Electric fans are nice, but if the engine is running too hot, the fans will run too often, which imparts more load on the engine at idle than the mechanical fan does.
