The electric pump should be just fine, but its pressure is really important. 1.5 to 2.5 PSI is the best pressure for all of the alpine carbs. The Strombergs seem most problematic of all the carbs at higher pressures, mostly because these carbs pee out a bowl vent hole into the air filters, instead of dumping raw fuel into the inlet as in all the other carb configs.

Most high performance carbs like to see 3 to 5 PSIG pressure, this assures that adequate fuel volume can be attained. These carbs have a lot of leverage on the needle and seat from the float, and can shut down at this pressure. Many aftermarket electric pumps "particularly performance pumps" have quite a bit more pressure than is needed for most carbs. Many offer as high as 7 PSIG in a standard diaphragm pump.

The Alpine carbs just wont take that kind of pressure, and add in a little dirt, and you have a fire potential.

Put a filter inline with the outlet of your pump, put in an adjustable regulator, be sure that your fuel lines are clean, and you should be in much better shape.
