Shocks

Here is what I have on shocks.

I am currently using: Front: Monroe 2067 (Also same as the Delco 500-65) These are for a 1965-76 Buick Riviera, Cadillac Brougham, Fleetwood, Calais, 1960-62 Corvette.

Rear: Gabriel 42340 "Red Riders" I forget what these were for.

For the fronts, the metal tube on the bottom is too long. I did not cut off the ends. I pressed the metal tubes out with a standard vice, and then pressed in the ones from my old shocks using the same vice. It was simple and not a problem.

I would say that these shocks are probably on the soft side. But, for $18 each, and for my typical driving, I have stuck with them for now.

I have the following information from KYB. As I type this, I remember I sent an e-mail on this a couple of years ago to the group. KYB's number is 800 592-2677. They will help you look up the right ones. When I spoke with them about 5 years ago, they could not find one that was quite short enough for the front. What they had was this:

Front: KG 4616 for a Suzuki Sameri, extended length 390 mm, compressed 250 mm For some unknown reason (its been about 5 years since I wrote these numbers down), I have 390 mm=15.35 inches and 12 1/8 " written next to it. It is possible that the 12 1/8" is the extended lenth of the Alpine fronts. I also have 250mm=9.84" with 8 7/8" next to it. This could mean that it did not compress enough. That is what I remember was the problem with the fronts. But, I am not certain that the12 1/8" and 8 7/8" are the numbers. I do remember trying to confirm that they were measuring these numbers from the same spots. But, I do not remember if I was 100% certain that they were. Someone may want to call them and try to run with it again.

Rear: KG 4762 for a Toyota Corrolla, extended 552mm, compressed 345mm As above, here I have Extended: 21.73" and 20.25", suggesting that they do not extend enough. And, Compressed: 13.6" and 12.5".

It's too bad since these are pretty good gas shocks that can be purchased around $27 each.

I also have info on Konis, from Sebring at 800 248-1133 Front: 82-1347 Rear: 82-1348 These numbers I believe are the older adjustable off the car type. The prices I have hear are $98.49 each front and $76.44 each rear.

Good luck.
