Here is a copy of a message I sent to the "headers group"
earlier this week.

Alpiners,

I have been trying to turn some stones on the special alpine headers
that you have all expresed an interest.

My original supplier, is not interested in making anything but onesie's
so a group discount is not plausible through that route.

I spoke with the infamous Dan Walters yesterday, and asked if he knew
of other possible fabrication houses up to the task. He is checking
around, and optimistic.

Also, there was a gentleman that attended the SoCal alpine get-together
named Larry Young of bakersfield.
Perhaps it was the fault of the drink, but he proffessed to being able to
procure said headers from a friend for unbelievably low coin.
I unfortunately have nothing but a bad e-mail address as a contact for
him.

If any of you know of a suitible shop to perform the work, please drop
me a line, in the mean time, I will continue to look in the usual sources
amonge companies that currently do business in this field.

Here is what I know, some of which on the reccomendation of Dan W.

The material will most likely be mild steel.
The header will be a 4 into 1 arrangement, with equal length tubes.
Tubes will likely be 1.25 ID.
The collector will be 2inch pipe, and should have an EGO bung.
The collector should be orriented in a similar location as the stock
Y pipe, but as far away from the starter as possible.
Target price is still $100 to $200.
