Right Jay. Chris McGovern's book says that the low compression engines were
marked with an "L." immediately after the VIN #, and just before the three
letter VIN suffix. If a Series II car had a low compression engine, it
might read like this: B91xxxxx L. RRX . Similarly, the later Alpine GT
models had "G.T." after the VIN# and before the suffix. 'Hope this clears
things up.
