Robert,
I had the same problem on my '60 series 1 (been sitting for over 25
years), where it blew the 15 amp fuse (the main power bus) when I
connected the battery for the first time. You need to disconnect the
devices that are on that bus. Then replace the fuse (get some juice
back) and try to reconnect each device until you find the device that's
shorted (it will spark!). I found that my windshield motor was shorted
and the was the only problem, so I am rebuilding it now. The Alpine's
electrical circuit is very simple (compared to todays automobile
technology), and I think you can troubleshoot the problem pretty easy.
Get a good electrical diagram; That's the first thing.
