Recently put one in the engine compartment on top of the right fender well.
This keeps it available and relatively sheltered (although it seemed pretty
well sealed and should be ok underneath). Most folks seemed to agree that
it is better to go with the mechanical one if possible. I'm trying to
rebuilt my mechanical, but will keep the electrical around as a failsafe.
This location would allow simple transfer between pumps if necessary.

Subject: Fuel Pump Location
I am putting an electric fuel pump on my series 5 to replace the one that
the PO put on it. I got an SU since it has the low pressure. It came
from the local brit car place. They sold me the one for a 1098 and 1275
Austin Healey.
1) I assume that this will work OK for the Alpine. No fuel throughput
capacity problems. Am I right here?
2) The old pump was in the cavity under that car above the rear
differential. Is this spot immune from rear end travel. (CRUNCH) Also how
well do the pumps hold up under the car like that. I would imagine that
road grime would limit their lives. Where have others put the pump. I
still have time to move it before I install.
Thanks,
Chris
