Mike, the engine is supposed to leak oil from the front. Otherwise your car
will rust away into nothingness. :)
You have hit on a very controversial subject here but I will throw my
opinion in the ring here.
The original Alpine engine, in all sizes, is a workhorse that is good for
the long haul. It is the engine that is supposed to be in the car and will,
in the long run, help your car maintain it's value. If, as you say, you want
an original car that is reliable you have it already.
Disclaimer: I am in no way coming down on conversions. I have driven Bob's
car and it is very enjoyable to drive. It is your car and if you want to
convert it, go ahead. I just happen to be in the originality camp.
