Color sand and polish?

I just painted our S3 this past weekend using single-stage
urethane. I applied two full coats as recommended, and
have good gloss...but a lot of dirt as well. When I've
painted cars in the past, I've been hesitant to do anything
more extreme than polish afterwards, but I'd like to get
better results this time. Can anyone give me a quick idea
of the process involved in color sanding and polishing (i.e.
what grit sandpapers and type of polishes for best result)?
