I forget all the suggestions last time. But, since then, I have learned of
a new one - a plugged or partially plugged muffler. My brother in law was
recently having more severe hiccupping problems on a car. It would run but
not gain power and hit would hiccup unburnt gas back out of the carbs. He
told me that he thought the exhaust might be plugged. To be honest, that
never would have been on my list. I would have been checking timing,
switched spark plugs, cam chain off a notch, etc. But, sure enough, he
punched some holes in the pipe just before the muffler and it slightly
improved so he cut off the muffler and bingo, the car was happy as it could
be. Seems the internals of the muffler had collapsed inside. Learn
something new everyday.
