Hello Everyone:
I readjusted my valves this morning and things do seem to run smoother
in my Series V. Idles better and smoother acceleration. I couldn't get
it to "burp", but didn't really have a chance to "let it rip" on the
drive to work. I planned on taking it on the freeway tonight to give it
a serious workout to see if it would still backfire through the carbs.
Instead, here's a new problem. After my engine rebuild about 6 or 7,000
miles ago, my oil pressure readings were beautiful....around 40lbs at
idle and 60 at high RPMS, just where I wanted it. Tonight, starting the
car from dead cold after work, I noticed the idle oil pressure seemed a
bit lower than normal (still OK at slightly below 40lbs) but when the
RPMS go up, oil pressure reads ALL the way to the right at 90 lbs!!!!!
This of course makes me very nervous. I drove home slowly, to keep the
reading down, but am totally at a loss to figure out what's going on.
Could I have a clogged oil filter? Oil guage gone bad? Engine about to
blow me and the car to smithereens? Any ideas out there?
Thanks.
Steve Sage
