I would not use the original timing chain stuff if I were you. I have
disassembled a nuber of engines that were newly rebuilt and had catastrophic
failure that could be traced directly to the timing chain gear. In fact, ask
Tom W who you bought the cam from. Last summer we took apart a 1600 that
still had honing marks on the bore! It had timing chain drive gear fragments
everywhere! I myself could not figure out why my timing was so far off in my
1725. I replaced the cahain which had stretched beyond the point where the
tensioner could not take up the slack and it ran perfectly! The chain kit
can be had from VB fairly cheap, but the two gears are rather expensive...
well if $75 seems expensive compared to new parts and machine work down the
tubes because a 35year old gear failed... Cheap insurance. Lou
