This could be a problem, and here is another idea with a question..
Is the tank off of the car, and how sharpe are the edges?
If the tank is off the car then try to clean and smoothem the area, get a
good tolit plunger and set it over the dent and pull quickly, it may just
pop out.
If the edges are sharpe then the air will assist with about 5-15 pounds
pressure and a small hammer at the edges to help change the structure of
the edges,

I wouldn't go over 15-20 pds pressure and listen carfully to the sounds of
the air entering the tank. Remember start at low pressure and slowly
increase. NOTE: after you have air "up" on the compressor shut it off so
you can hear what is going on.

Oh yes and DONOT use a soild line blocker as tape or any thing that will
not allow the hose to be withdrawn quickly, I allways used just a shop
raghand held
