Subject: Alpine Mailing List - Need support!
Hi Jerome,
It seems you are a frequent visitor on the Alpine Mailing List, and I
hope you can give me some support: i have subscried to the list, I
receive all (I think-) messages, but I'm not able to post any myself
anymore. I used to be, then I was unsubscribed for a while, they changed
the computer stuff at work (my only PC), I subscribed, managed to get
one maessage through and thats it. I've tried over and over again, I
have unsubscribed and subscribed again, but I don't manage to post any
message, only receive.
Can you post this for me, please?
--------
Thanks to all you people for your enthusiasm wrt. to my obtained MOT.
It feels good wearing plates on the car. The chassis number I couldn't
find anywhere as most of you told me I wouldn't, however I had to get it
stamped into the fire wall next to the riveted tag plate.
However, I have some other questions related to my series 5/1967
ch.no.B395012110:
1.
Before I got unsubscribed I remember there was a discussions on
someone's breakes that were stuck after breaking, with the result that
the car wasn't possible to move until the engine was turned off, the
pedal pushed and then the breakes came loose.
I think the problem was caused by a malfunctioning brake servo.
Well, I seem to have some of the same problem, and I wonder if someone
has the end of that story.....
I tried to search the archives, but couldn't find it back.
I reconditioned the servo some year and a half ago, and the engine was
started for the first time since then last week. Maybe its just a
question of time and use befor it works well?
Maybe I should enter some breake cylinder grease somewhere inside it?
Could it be air trapped inside it (I think I bled off the air
completely, however that was maybe before the engine was started,
hence maybe some air was stuck inside some cavity?)
Anybody who can tell? I've got Girling breake system.
Meanwhile maybe I should bypass the servo?
2.
What happened to the Online Factory Shop Manual that previously was
accessible on http://www.daverob.clara.net/?
All I get is an error message....
I've been unsubscribed for quite a while, so maybe I've missed what
happened.
3.
The engine does not run properly - first I suspected ignition problems,
but it's not.
Boosting the engine it runs OK, but idling its performance is poor. I
feels like one of the cylinders is on/off. Exhaust is black, fuel
consumption high. I think it may be the Strxmberg carburettors, and plan
to change the diaphragms/membranes.
I can have a set for Strxmbergs fitting Volvo B18/B20 engines for cheap
at the local dealer.
Will they fit mine (I think I read somewhere its the same carburettor
as ours)?
Thanks
Espen (still skiing ).
