Paul,
The mobility frame, that Doug Jennings made, bolts to the main body
mounting holes. A front frame bolts to the front suspension holes and a
frame in the rear bolts to the shock holes. I don't think the bumper
mounts will work because the front bumper mounts usually need some
repair (or they are bent) and they will be in the way of valence repair.
I think these frames can be made from angle iron and welded at home. I
plan on making some for my series 1 body off restoration sometime in the
future. The frame is used to put the body on it's side for underside
repair/painting. Once that's done, the body can be placed upright on a
dolly (square piece of plywood with your four casters) that's positioned
on the X-member. Then you can push the body around the shop and/or push
it outside to work on it.
P.S. Have you tried to locate a metal cleaning facility that can dip the
body? I wouldn't sandblast the body, I would dip it along with the
doors, gas tank, and other parts. I am convinced of this cleaning
process is the only way to go for large sheet metal parts.
