I have always run Michelin XZX tires on my Alpine. We also run Michelins
on my wife's car. Her first set ran about 45,000 miles, which was about
20,000 more miles than they were supposed to. Unfortunately, they no
longer make that tire. So I called Michelin to see what they have for a
replacement. While talking to them, I asked about tires for the Sunbeam
and Porsche. They said that Coker is their exclusive distributor for tires
for those cars. So, I guess that if you want Michelins in high profile
tires, you have to go to Coker. Which is a bummer considering the prices.

P.S. On wear of tires, I do not think you can fairly compare one brand to
another. As someone pointed out, the more "high performance" a tire is,
the softer it is and the faster it wears out - regardless of who makes
them. Today's modern car high performance tires are really not rated to
last more than 20,000 miles, some even less. On the flip side, tires with
treads that are designed for wet conditions tend to be harder rubber. For
safety on my wife's car, I opted for the tires that were better in rain
than on the skid pad. Seems the Volvo just doesn't get out to Buttonwillow
as much as it used to.
