Provided that the cam is timed right, Iron head engines (1390,1494 and 1592)
had a different intake and exhuast config and thus a different cam.
If you have one of those cams, that could explain it.

Schneider couldnt have screwed it up, becuase to have messed up that bad,
there would be no lobes left when they were done.

Perhaps someone used the wrong core for the grind?

Also something to keep in mind (or at least look out for) is that
3 main and 5 main cams look nearly identical, the only discernable
differences are that the oil pump drive gears have one more or less tooth.
Besides damaging the gear teeth, mixing the wrong cam with out pump, will
result in a 1/13 revolution cam timing error per 2 engine revolutions.
You get that?
This can make for an interesting startup session.

When you get it all apart, take down the PN from the cam, and tell us what
it was.
