The main shafts rotation is linked by the dog clutches to the gears/counter
gears.
If the trans is in nuetral, the gears wont be spining (much any how).
And thus only the mainshaft will rotate.
This wont throw a whole lot of oil, and thus wont lube the other parts.
Short tows (less than 10 miles) I wouldnt worry about it (removing
driveshaft).
Long tows, like from California to Montana, I would definately do it.
