What carbs are you running? If they are CD150's, then there are a
number of potential causes. If the float(s) got stuck, then the
bowl(s) could have overflowed. Or if the seals on the jet adjusters
were bad, then a leak would result. In either case, fuel would dump
all over the exhaust manifold and the starter. If there was enough
heat, fire.

At minimum you will need to rebuild the carbs. You should also replace
your wiring harness as well.
