You cannot powder coat this as a unit. The curing process will destroy
the rubber. I sent mine out to "The Damper Dude" and for $50 it was
revulcanized and painted. Turned out very nice. Yes, the damper
should be black (semi-gloss).

I blasted and powder coated my leaf springs. I believe the rubber
buttons (between springs) are available from SS as are the strips for
the straps. When you put them back together put a coat of grease
between the leaves. I am very pleased with the powder coating, it
flexes just fine.
