Reading Spark Plugs

I was doing a little fine tuning on the car this weekend and decided to
finally give the Color-Tune a try. Everything looked OK as far as I could
tell. The flame was blue at idle and gradually turned yellow as RPM
increased. As I backup I wanted to ask the experts. When I pulled the plugs
on both #1 and #3 cylinder they were covered with a light tan dust that
scraped off fairly easily. Does that seem correct?

I also wired up the blower motor to what I think is a modification done by a
previous owner. The motor was wired to a switch on the far left of my dash
(on the left side of the washer doohickey). I was under the assumption that
the blower should be wired to the chrome ventilation switch. Is this another
"other market" feature of my car or did someone rewire it after the regular
switch broke?

And my final question. I would like to have my wood GT steering wheel
refurbished. I called a guy in Indiana (I think) and he quoted $400. Is that
the going rate? Can anyone recommend somebody that they have worked with?

Thanks,
Kurt
