Paul,
I'm watching this thread with interest (more like trepidation), because
I too have an uneven gap and no weather seals either side of my
windscreen. I seem to recall seeing a dimension for the distance from
the top corner of the windsreen to the soft-top pivot (at the rear of
the door opening). Anyone else seen this? Maybe it was in the "Alpine
Guide" from the SAOC - Scott C. how's your memory?

In my case, I suspect the scenario went like this:
1. Soft-top shrinks and will not reach the windscreen.
2. remove spacers to tip back windscreen
3. Doors hard to close because weatherstrip hits windscreen.
4. Remove weatherstrips.
5. Hardtop doesn't fit.
6. Elongate holes for boot hinges and move rearward (really!!) leaving
1/2" panel gap.
7. Add spacers to boot latch so it lines up with striker.
8. See, much easier than replacing soft-top :-)

Whoever invented the term DPO knew what he was talking about.
Cheers,
Paul.
