Patrick,
        The way that I renew my rims is to either sandblast them or have them
dipped. If they are wires, then the best is to dip them so that
everything will be clean to the metal. Wires are very hard to sandblast.
I would next treat them with a metal conditioner and paint with PPG DP
primer, both on the faces and inside the tire area. Then paint with a
single-stage automotive paint. I think powdercoating is really the very
best. In a few months, Ian and I will have a powdercoating capability in
our restoration shop.
