Cole,

First has the conversion to neg. ground be done recently and now it is not
charging?
If this is the case then you need to polarize the generator and regulator by
striking an arc from the battery positive terminal at the starter solinoid to
the field terminal on the regulator with the generator wires hooked up. Just
strike the arc a couple of times for about 2 seconds each. Then try to see if
it is charging now.

If it stopped charging and was charging before with the polarity change then
I would unhook the field wire from the regulator and with the engine running
at 1,500 rpm power up this wire with battery positive voltage for a few
seconds. This is called full fielding a generator. With your multi meter on
either the (D) terminal of the regulator
you should see a voltage change from battery voltage (say 12 volts to about
18 volts). Do the full field for only 5 seconds. If it does the above I would
say the regulator is bad. If it does not charge then the generator needs
attention. Be sure to check the regulators,E terminal for good ground, the A1
terminal for power with the ignition switch on, the A terminal for battery
power, the D & F wire from the regulator to generator for continuity. Good
luck.
