You want to use a sheet of 4-6 mil thickness, clear,
poly-plastic-something material. The greenhouses use this material for
their roof covering and it holds up for a long time. The question is
finding the best adhesive material to attach the plastic film. Maybe a
tube of some type of caulking material that is sticky enough to cling to
the plastic and the door. The auto makers use a non-hardening, white,
sticky material that has enough strength to hold together, but will
seperate if one needs to get in the door for repairs. That's the stuff
I'm looking for.
