I would pull the whole front crossmember off the car to work on the
suspension control arm bushings and such. To remove the springs, I have
used an "all-thread" rod (from a hardware store) in the shock holes and
compressed the spring by turning the nuts on the threaded rod. I haven't
replace the bushings before, but Doug Jennings (Tiger Auto) can change
those bushings for you. He knows the proceedure because he has done so
many of them before.
