For determining capacities on your 1600, you can check Fred Katz's most
helpful WEB posting of the '68 owner's manual.  Go to his page at

After several weeks' use, I continue to be delighted with the two Red Line
gear oils: MTL for the tranny and Shock Proof for the differential.  I
guess I'm lucky to have tight seals!


I know of 19 grease fittings at the front end:
        8 at each wheel (including all the upper and lower arm controls);
        2 for the front tie-rod;
        and the odd one out is for the idler-box (on the passenger side).
The last three are easy to access from the front.
