Chris,

A 2000 pressure plate, with the higher clamping force, is fine
on a 1600 roadster. Typically I also installed the '2000'
pressure on my ('68-'72) 510's as well. Stiff pedal, but I
would get over 100,000 miles on the clutch!

If you install a 1600 pressure plate on a 2000, you'll have a
lighter pedal feel... but the 2000 has more torque, and can
spin the clutch a little easier. This will lead to a short
clutch life.
