Brass advocates tell me that steel rusts thru over a period of time, and 
brass is better because it won't.

Steel advocates tell me that brass expands at a different rate than the 
iron block so you have a greater risk of brass plugs blowing out or leaking 
than with steel plugs.

I decided to stick with steel freeze plugs. As long as I'm using an 
anti-freeze/coolant, the rust will be minimized. I've never seen one rust 
thru. And the steel is much stronger than the brass. AFAIK, freeze plugs 
get removed at every rebuild, or if you have rusty dirty water and you're 
doing a radiator recore.
