I used to do that all the time, and it's how I "loaded" parts of the barn
when I moved the collection into it almost 12 years ago. Easy with cars
the size of ours!

Again, maybe it's different with the "big" TRs. Never had a problem with
Heralds, Spitfires and GT6s. However, I do have a problem with the
RaceSpit in that its current winter home is in a section of barn with no
solid floor. Basically, it's a combination of planks on sawdust on dirt
on...well, never mind. It's not ideal for either traction or for using a
floor jack to swing cars around. However, the "slot" for the RaceSpit is
a sharp,right-angle turn that cannot possibly be made even with the
reverse Ackerman steering of a Spitfire. So one either spends 20-25
minutes going back and forth with painfully minute bits of progress in
changing direction, OR one bounces or lifts the rear of the car into
position. This past September, when putting the car away, I had no help
save for my 8- and 10-year-olds (I know, I could've called some of you,
but....), so I showed them how to "lift and bounce" the rear of the car
from the rear wheelarches. (Amazing what a strong handle that can make
when the inner lips are properly bent up flush with the inside wheel
arch!) Anyway, the kids did a GREAT job (OK, maybe it was mostly my
doing, but they were pretty proud of themselves)!
And NO, no ASCII art of this little ritual! A few of you have seen the
barn and the RaceSpit's winter home; the rest of you will have to imagine
it! ;-)
