It doesn't seem that the fan can take much power to run. On my Spitfire
1500, when the thermostatic fan clutch was in its last throws of life,
running along at 4500 RPM the clutch would instantly engage. When it did,
it slowed the car as quickly as a sharp stab on the brakes.
