I've always been intriques by all hemis. I've
got a Chrysler now that I'm just holding to put
into my next project. (Actually, I've already got
that project started, but it has to be "back
burner" until I get this roadster on the track.
Back about '62 I had a TR-3 with a badly smoking
engine (The county offered to pay me a couple
bucks to drive around near the swamps to kill
mosquitos - ha ha), and when I went to this local
junkyard nearby, they had a daimler motor there.
They said that all Brit motors were the same and
I should just replace the four with the 8.
First, I didn't believe them, that all Brit
motors were the same (I had an MG prior to the
Triumph and I knew better), and second, the
little v-8 looked like it would be a bear to get
into the Triumph. All these years later, I still
think about that project and wish I'd given it a
try - instead, I traded the smoking Triumph off
for a hard-to-start Brit motorcycle. Ironically,
at the time, it was just an old britiss junker
bike that was impossible to start and I soon
tired of the bike and got rid of it too. I think
I had about thirty bucks in it. Had I only
known, it was a Norton Manx and is literally
worth it's weight in gold these days! Damn, the
good old days and the power of hind-sight! But,
ohhh, it would be sweet to find and build a
Dailer today.
