At the Maxton July meet I met Keith Turk and saw his Camaro which is
featured in the September issue of Hot Rod. I believe he said he was running
a MSD ignition including a timing retard box. My question for Keith or
anyone else is: would the timing retard box , being used to allow full
advance when one does not have the nitrous turned on but have it on when
the nitrous is on in high gear, help the car acheive a higher top speed . At
maxton in July I ran nitrous in high gear so my overall timing was only 28
degrees, but without the nitrous the usually runs 36 degrees total advance.
Will running the 36 degree total advance in first and second gear help me
achieve a higher top speed. Without the retard box I had to run the car
through first and second gear with only 28 degrees of total advance, which
created less than ideal performance in these gears but did not affect third
gear since the nitrous was on. Any ideas is appreciated.
