Keith,
        while Chuck's story is similar, my childhood teaching on the subject
of misplaced objects is this. The martians are creating a parallel world to
ours and need to borrow each individual piece in order to copy them, they'll
put it back right under your nose again when they've finished.

Cheeeez !  the sooner the racing season starts the better.
