As usual.....Warning! Opinion Follows!
#1 Go with the hard compound. The soft compound won't help on salt or dirt. They
will last longer, although the sidewalls usually rot out first.

#2  Goodyear does make tires the size (s) you mention. I ran a set of Talladega
Specials for several years that were 27 X 8 's on a 15" wheel. IMHO those tires
are too wide. They make narrower 27's in the Shorttrack line. Jim Doughty
(pronounced Dowdy) at Shelby in Phoenix has spent a lot of time working with me
to find out what will & won't fit - his Ph # is 602-437-4977. He also has an
800# on his card I have never used - 800-628-9305  I run that size Front Runners
on the front of my Vette and they are perfect (for me)
