I'm not so sure you would make more HP. I am
currently running a SBC because they are
plentiful and easy to run. Dollar for dollar,
they will give the cheapest horses! HP in any
motor though, as you are well aware, is a
complex formula of a lot of variables, but the
final determining factor of voumentric efficiency
is the ability to flow. Being a hemi man, I
recently dug up some numbers to see how well an
old hemi might do against a SBC. At the
beginning of lift, the SBC leads. Half way
through they are about equal. On the top end of
lift, the hemi is so far ahead of the SBC that it
isn't funny. Therefore, if both a hemi and a SBC
(or Ford) were treated to all the same buildup
goodies, I believe the hemi would put out more
power than either the Ford or the SBC. I am also
firmly convinced that it would be the most
expensive to build.

So there, now we have a good controversy to keep
our "cyberlink" busy during the coming "between
the lokidays" days off work!
