Dr. My browser will not go to your site by clicking, but the formula I have
been ignoring is tire circumference X gear ratio X displacement over
volumetric efficiency. So I know how far my car moves in one rotation of the
tire. This requires 2.5 revolutions of the crankshaft. Since my 400 cubic
inch motor breathes in every other time that's 500 cubic inches of air at
100% efficiency. For ease of expression I'll call that 100 inches forward in
2 1/2 turns of the motor. So at that rate I have a column of air 100 inches
long and I need an opening of 5 square inches (2.5X2 inches).
As I mentioned I decided this didn't look right although it sounded right.
Speed is not a factor in this very simple equation and I'm sure something is
missing.   Rich
