Had a chance last evening to preview Paul Busta's video he made at the World
of Speed in 2000. Took so long because he included some very interesting
new features ... pictures of the drivers and the speed of the car on
specific runs. It is all digital video and he won a major industry award
for his efforts. I'm sure Ellen will have it available for sale on the
www.saltflats.com home page very soon. Not a solution for being there but
certainly a placebo until the racing begins again.

Great shots of the cars and bikes, nice interviews with teams, shots inside
some cars and a nice bit with Herb Harris and Jeff Decker Shows the Vincent
bikes Herb brought to the salt and the historic bikes Jeff has in his
collection which provide technical details for his bronzes. Gives an idea
of our fast car and bike trophies too.

I liked the feature of two cameras following the same run, one at the start
and one at about the three mile point down the track. Of course there are
too many shots of Keith Turk, Joe Timney, John Beckett ... but you have to
put up with those parts to get the recovery when John had a brake rotor (as
I remember) go on him. Nice high speed slide and recovery whatever the
cause.

Those twin engine streamliners sure sound mean at speed!!! Fred Larsen sure
has been running a pretty car all these years. Last runs before the museum
circuit.
