Tom is right. Rental companies are touchy about their vehicles being taken
off paved roads as well. Some car rental companies in SLC have been
charging tourists extra for excursions off paved roads in the red rock
country of southern Utah.
A simple and direct way to avoid all the subterfuge is just to rent from
Tony and Todd at Rent-A-Wreck.
