One thing about solid-fuel rocket motors--- once you light 'em off, ya
can't shut 'em down! Now liquid- fuel motors are a different story.

That Nike- Ajax motor would make one heck of a flamethrower, though!

  Lets see now, 
the TV show, myth_busters has declared the "story" about the JATO/RATO
powered car that crashed into a AZ cliff as busted ( just that, a myth)
after tests and checking the records of the AZ highway patrol.
 Never happened...

and now Neil,
whom just happens to live in AZ, wants to do it all over again..
 Start of a whole new story line...

   ALRIGHT !  Never a dull moment  in the LSR world...
